Hello bacon lovers!
In case you didn’t know today is GROUNDHOG DAY! Yes, that day where Rodents-of-Unusual-Size use
their divine powers to see the future of American weather for the next 6-weeks with
their degrees in meteorology. In case
you were wondering the Groundhog did NOT see his shadow in old
Punxsutawney, PA, which means we are lucky enough to expect an early spring. This appears to be a simple American superstition,
as I have heard of no other Rodents-of-Unusual-Size predicting future weather
conditions in other countries.
Why do the Groundhogs limit their ability to one day of
the year? Why do they only predict the
onslaught of spring? I think that
studies should be developed to see if Groundhogs can use their predictions for
the good of mankind. For instance, tomorrow’s
winners and the final score for the 2013 Super Bowl. Maybe these mystical marmots could have predicted
the impending Bacon Shortage? (Personally, I’m taking the Ron Swanson approach
to the upcoming predicted pandemic of bacon.
Check out the video here) In my opinion, I think that we are under utilizing the groundhog’s future-telling potential.
So whether you believe the rodent or not, get out and
enjoy the winter. I’m Alaskan, so I’m
waiting for the perfect snowfall to build my Calvin and Hobbes inspired Snowman
House of Horror! And maybe take my son sledding…
Speaking of Calvin & Hobbes…Did you know that there
is a new comic strip with a grown up Calvin with his daughter Bacon (only
Calvin would name his child Bacon). You
can check out the strip here.
This was a fun little experiment that you can do with the children in your life (big and small)
