Come to the Darkside....We Have Bacon! (Bacon Lightsabers!)

Happy Star Wars Day!  May the Fourth be with you! (And also with you.  A reading according to Luke...and Leia).  So yeah, you probably didn't think there would be a connection between a Geeky Holiday and Bacon, but there are tons.  Bacon is the "IT" thing that can go with anything.  Ever just google bacon to see what weirdness is out there?  It's kinda what I do when I get stuck and need ideas.  My friend Martin has challenged me to a google-bacon challenge.  And while I'm in the process of doing some research for that project, here's some Bacony Star Wars to honor the geek in you.

This guy took his Bacon and Star Wars obsession a little far.  How about a Bacon At-At?

I made these in honor of the holiday, and in celebration of my neighbor's first oven-fired pizza-cooking of the season, and his practice BBQ before the Roc City Rib Fest!  Delicious!

Bacon Lightsabers
1 lb thin-sliced bacon, cut crosswise into thirds
1 (10 ounce) package pretzel sticks
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon chili powder

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Line a  baking sheet with aluminum foil, place a cooling rack inside of foil-lined pan; lightly grease rack.

Wrap 1 piece of bacon around each pretzel stick. In a shallow dish, combine brown sugar and chili powder. Roll each wrapped pretzel in sugar mixture to coat. Place on prepared rack. Bake 20 minutes, turning once, or until bacon is crispy.

Remove from racks, and let cool.
